Development of web applications – Reference project ”Supplier Evaluation”
For more than 15 years, MAN has relied on TELUM as a reliable, strategic software partner for the development of web-based applications.
In 2004, Telum BITS developed a web-based application for the extensive evaluation of suppliers for MAN Truck & Bus AG and controlled the project “LBW Supplier Evaluation” from the preparation of a prototype via the implementation of the web application and a subsequent test phase up to training and maintenance services. Due to its extensive technical knowledge in the automotive industry and its long experience in the field of integrating heterogeneous data sources, Telum BITS was chosen as a software provider specialized in data mining and reporting.
Supplier evaluation as a strategic tool for business management
The application LBW Supplier Evaluation serves to extensively evaluate the supplier relationships of MAN Truck & Bus. It allows the collection of soft and hard facts from the different company divisions, compares the evaluations in a supplier ranking, and enables the derivation of recommendations for actions towards individual suppliers. By categorizing suppliers into A-B-C suppliers, measures to be taken are determined and decisions on specific suppliers are made transparent for all divisions involved. The decisive requirements of quality, up-to-dateness, and consistency of the data management, of traceability of the determined ranking, and of the compatibility of the different perspectives the divisions have on a supplier are fully taken into account by the LBW Supplier Evaluation by Telum BITS.
The LBW application makes an essential contribution to improving the collaboration with the suppliers of MAN Truck & Bus. This is of utmost importance for a consistent implementation of the corporate objectives due to the high dependency of the entire MAN Group on effective relationships with suppliers and the direct effects on quality and service of MAN.
Reimplementation of an expanded supplier evaluation as of the first quarter of 2012
The experiences from the last seven years of project work have been incorporated in a concept for a completely revised supplier evaluation. Telum BITS is responsible for the external project management of the reimplementation of LBW Supplier Evaluation at all stages. From the IT concept preparation via implementation and quality assurance to training, documentation, and translation into several languages, Telum BITS is able to contribute its many years of experience to this field allowing the client to work even more effectively with the supplier evaluation.
